IEC to Release 2026 Voting Stations and Mobile Routes List on 14 August

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will release the official list of all voting stations, including the detailed routes of 32 mobile stations, on 14 August 2026 ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November 2026. According to an IEC statement, the publication will allow voters to confirm the locations of their designated voting stations and help communities reliant on mobile voting points to plan effectively for election day.

Details Of Voting Station Publication

Mosotho Moepya, IEC Chairperson, confirmed that the full addresses of regular and mobile voting stations will be made public on 14 August. Moepya stated, “The commission will publish the list of voting stations with their addresses on 14 August 2026. The publication of the list of voting stations will include routes of mobile voting stations.”

The IEC’s announcement follows the proclamation by Cooperative Governance Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa that 4 November has been set as the election date. The voters’ roll closed at midnight following this proclamation, finalising the voter registration ahead of the official campaign season. The list is expected to be published through the IEC’s official platforms and is intended to ensure accessibility and transparency for all prospective voters.

Preparation For The 2026 Local Government Elections

Sy Mamabolo, IEC Chief Electoral Officer, said the clarified election timeline would bolster preparations and ensure all electoral stakeholders can properly plan for the upcoming municipal elections. “The announcement of the election date provides clarity for all role players and certainty of planning for the Electoral Commission as we continue our work to deliver free and fair municipal elections,” Mamabolo said during a media briefing.

The introduction of mobile voting stations is expected to improve electoral access in remote or underserved areas. According to official IEC information, there will be 32 mobile voting stations operating across the country. These will follow pre-published routes to reach designated communities, supporting the IEC’s commitment to inclusive and representative elections. The final list will help ensure that voters can confirm their polling locations ahead of the polls, contributing to the smooth running of the 2026 elections.

The IEC is encouraging all registered voters to review the published list and clarify their voting station details prior to election day.
